How easy is it to rob a bank these days? It seems fairly easy as three different banks fell victim to at least two male robber suspects on Friday and Saturday. And I say at least two because the descriptions given to police make it sound like two of the robberies were likely committed by the same Asian male.

The first robbery, at a Wells Fargo in the Outer Richmond, occurred just before 7 p.m. on Friday, as Bay City News reports. The suspect flashed a gun under his jacket and gave a teller a demand note, and walked out with an undisclosed sum. He's described as an Asian male "between 30 and 35 years old who is about 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs roughly 130 pounds."

He sounds very similar to the Asian male who robbed a Wells Fargo the very next evening, Saturday around 5:35, on the 3600 block of Geary near Arguello. That suspect was described as between 30 and 35 years old and 5 foot 8 inches.

Then there was another robbery committed by a white male suspect on Saturday around 11:30 a.m., at a Citibank on the 1800 block of Van Ness. That suspect was wearing a fake brown mustache and stood about 5 foot 6 inches, "simulated" a handgun in his pocket, and walked away with an undisclosed sum after handing over a demand note.

So, yes. Though police are not suggesting any of the three robberies were connected, we may indeed be getting hit by a gang of petite bank robbers. Or it's just a coincidence that all of them are on the short side.

Compare these with the more sophisticated, "takeover-style" bank robberies that were happening in the South Bay by a crew of Norteno gang members who'd dubbed themselves the Point Break Crew. They were arrested three weeks ago in connection with a string of heists in San Jose and Campbell.
