Mark Strachan might still be hungover from what sounds like a wild party last Saturday, August 30 at his new bar Capone’s Speakeasy in Alameda. At the very least, he's probably still embarrassed about getting arrested for public drunkenness and attempting to bite an Alameda Police officer’s leg at his own bar's grand opening.

Named after the famed mobster, Capone’s Speakeasy is a 7,000-square-foot, 1920s-themed bar co-owned by a first-time restaurateur and owner of a local construction company — Strachan — who appropriately has a rap sheet, as Inside Scoop reports.

Around 9 p.m. at the opening party, Strachan approached Alameda Police officers responding to an incident across the street from Capone’s and asked why they were there, according to Public Information Officer Lieutenant Jill Ottaviano. As detailed in the police report, Strachan “was heavily intoxicated...and grabbed an officer’s arm." Ottaviano says the officers momentarily got rid of Strachan to wrap up their work, but then went to the bar to take him into custody. Strachan resisted and reportedly bit one of the cops in the leg.

"The officer felt teeth against the top part of his boot where the leg was exposed and felt pressure against that leg, [but] apparently there weren’t any actual injuries," Ottaviano tells Inside Scoop.

Strachan was charged with public drunkenness, resisting arrest, two counts of battery on a public officer, and one felony and one misdemeanor count of violating the terms of his probation. He was arraigned on Wednesday and remained in custody at that time.

Meanwhile, the Alameda Police Department is talking to the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control about potentially revoking Capone’s alcohol license. Ouch.
