It's been nearly 15 years since pre-production began on Superman Lives, the Kevin Smith penned, Tim Burton directed superhero movie starring occasional SF resident Nicolas Cage as the title character.

As you may recall, after spending nearly $30 million on the film, and with countless script, casting, and director changes, the project was scrapped around 2001. It's a project that nerds think about during quiet moments, wondering what might have been. At least, that's what I do!

Alas, we'll never know. But perhaps the next-best thing is to figure out what went wrong with the movie in the first place? That's what filmmaker Jon Schnepp seeks to do with his documentary The Death of Superman Lives: What Happened?, the trailer for which you can watch below. Including interviews with key players like Burton and Smith, the film still needs just a little more funding to be completed. You can learn more about here.
