Enough with hot felons! Some of you have likely already seen the handsome mug of Officer Chris Kohrs, the incredibly hunky motorcycle cop who's been spotted, drooled over, and photographed many times since making his first appearances on the Castro beat in the last few months. Well, now you may collect all your spank-bank material fan photos in once place: his new Facebook fan page.
Kohrs first started causing a stir in the gay press in early May when these photos of him appeared on Towleroad. Shortly thereafter local author Armistead Maupin spotted him and chatted him up on Castro Street, and Logo TV's blog described Kohrs as a "Tom of Finland drawing come to life."
Kohrs joined the SFPD in 2009 as part of the 224th recruit class, and he's an officer assigned to Park Station, serving Upper Haight and Nopa. Update: According to an SFPD source, Kohrs has been doing overtime in the Castro while all those street and sidewalk upgrades are being finished, so he won't be the Hot Cop of the Castro for long!!
Kohrs, who obviously works out—a lot—has already garnered over 4,000 Likes on the fan page, which includes photos that his many admirers have been taking with him when he's out on patrols, or, in one recent case, grabbing a coffee at the Nordstrom cafe.
Chris may or may not be openly gay himself, but he's been quick to show support for the community, and to acknowledge that he enjoys the Facebook attention. He wrote to the keepers of the fan page last week saying, "I noticed there weren't any pride pics on my page. I think I should have at least one to show my support!" He sent in a photo of himself working at the Civic Center Pride celebration, with a young female fan in a blond wig.
Also, he's clearly a guy who gets that there's a long history of animosity toward cops in the Castro, both before and after the bar crackdowns in the 70s, and following the White Night riots of 1979 after the Dan White verdict in the Harvey Milk and George Moscone assassination trial. Kohrs says, "The community has came a long way since the riots and I feel the SFPD has too. I hope our relations with the LGBT community keep improving!"
