Sunday afternoon, a man was shot to death near the Oakland Coliseum BART station. The fatal bout of gunplay happened at 72nd Avenue and Hawley Street near the station's parking lot.

While some major media outlets made it a point to note that a nearby Raiders game was in progress, neither the game nor its fans had anything to do with the shooting.

ABC 7 reports:

Oakland police say this was in no way related to the Raiders game. In fact, the victim's aunt told us he was in the neighborhood to visit her.

She lives just a few houses down from where the shooting occurred and was outside when she says she saw someone in the passenger seat of a black car shoot someone several times.

The aunt, it seems, heard a few gunshots and, a few moments later, saw her nephew's body on the street. He was transported to a nearby hospital where he later succumbed to injuries.

No arrests have been made.
