A woman who was later arrested both for DUI and meth possession struck three blind people on Thursday afternoon in the street in downtown Berkeley. The woman, identified as 53-year-old Sherri Carbone-Cruz, struck the three visually impaired pedestrians at the intersection of Shattuck and Haste, and then fled the scene, as Berkeleyside reports. Subsequently she was involved in another minor vehicle accident that injured the other driver.

She was soon found a few blocks away at Shattuck and Channing and arrested on suspicion of felony hit-and-run, possession of methamphetamine, bringing a controlled substance into the jail, and felony driving under the influence.

The blind people she hit, thankfully, only suffered minor injuries.
