If you were despondent when Film Night in the Park's 2013 season ended last month with Skyfall in Dolores Park, then here's your good news, outdoor movie fan: movie nights just went into the post-season. We may not have baseball, but we do have one more chance to watch a movie outdoors. (This analogy is flawless.)

Mr. October in this case is Michael Keaton in the titular role of the 1988 horror-comedy classic, Beetlejuice. Note that the venue is new and neighborhood advocates are trying to get butts on the grass, but Mission Creek Park looks nice and has a smallish built-in amphitheater. So, it's got that going for it. Also, Bicycle Bahn Mi will be selling sandwiches and because it's been getting dark earlier showtime is at 7 p.m.

For a nice fall weather drink pairing, match Tim Burton's gothy aesthetic with a nice bourbon and apple cider drink. We like the Vasco de Gama — a mix of bourbon, scotch and spiced apple syrup made with black peppercorn, cardamom, cloves and chili. It's a mix of sweet and spicy flavors that play off each other like Keaton and Winona Ryder. (It that recipe is too complex, just mix up a thermos of hot apple cider with a traveler bottle of bourbon.)

Friday, October 18th: Beetlejuice in Mission Creek Park, 7 p.m.
