Yes, this weekend promises the best weather of the year. And yes, most of the city will be basking in jorts along the city's parks and sidewalks. But to capture that authentic summer feel, there's really no better way than holing up in a darkened movie theater and pretending you're a breathless child again, is there? Cue the next event in the Castro Theatre's much-loved sing-along series: Mary Poppins.

Notable for making every child who has ever seen the movie wish Julie Andrews was their mother and room-cleaning magic was real, Mary Poppins contains such sing-along hits as "Chim Chim Cher-ee," "A Spoonful of Sugar" and "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious", as well as the super sad "Feed the Birds". As always, subtitles will help clueless crooners sing along, and a costume contest, goodie bag and participatory audience cues make this event a special kind of fun.

These things are popular with nostalgic adults and children alike, so grab a ticket early if you're willing able. Showtimes are Friday night at 7pm, and Saturday and Sunday at 2pm and 7pm.
