Let's face it: none of us thinks about Dave Grohl nearly enough. But the former Nirvana drummer and Foo Fighters frontman is at it again, this time as the director of a newly released music documentary that had its premier at Sundance last month. The film pays tribute to Sound City Studios, a Van Nuys recording studio where musical greats made their best albums, from Fleetwood Mac, Neil Young, Rick Springfield and Tom Petty to Metallica and Nirvana.

The film serves as a loving look at the humans behind the music, an examination of a changing industry and a behind-the-scenes look at the album created in conjunction with the movie. It's gotten overwhelmingly positive reviews for its loving look at a fabled icon of recording, so we think it's worth a look-see. As for us, we're just happy to see Dave back in action.

Catch Sound City tonight and through Wednesday at 7:15 or 9:30.
