Marin Independent reports:

Once a symbol of delicious yet bad-for-you fried chicken sandwiches, Chick-fil-A has since turned into a bastion of misguided hate and, oddly enough, a pop-up think tank for fundamentalist right-wingers to misunderstand their First Amendment rights. (It remains a symbol for delicious yet bad-for-you fried chicken sandwiches, by the way.) Anyway, Novato will play home to the noted anti-gay chain that exploits religious beliefs in the name of bile. Fun.

The company paid $2.7 million for a 0.7-acre site at 35 Rowland Way that is currently home to a Carl's Jr. restaurant, according to a statement from Terranomics Retail Services, a brokerage that represented Chick-fil-A. County records show a deed for the property was recorded in the name of Chick-fil-A Inc. on July 25.

Chick-fil-A will allow Carl's Jr. to continue operating its hamburger chain at the building for the next year or two before it remodels the building and opens its own restaurant, according to Terranomics.

Chick-fil-A will also come to Walnut Creek and Mountain View. Chick-fil-A will not come to San Francisco because, not only would it piss Mayor Ed Lee off, but Baghdad by the Bay eschews anything tasty under heat lamps that comes with toys. (We're still waiting on that Wendy's, you guys.)

In related news, the Mitt Romney campaign spent $500 at Chick-fil-A last month for "meeting expense."
