Tonight in Golden Gate Park, the folks from local literary concern Quiet Lightning will host the first of three monthly Greenhouse Effect beer-and-literature events in the always lovely Conservatory of Flowers. The event promises a "performance" of works from issue 29 of Quiet Lightning's monthly lit rag sparkle + blink and $3 Lagunitas for the thirsty scriveners in the audience.

Conservatory doors open at 6:30 p.m. and readings begin at 7:30 sharp. In addition to cheap beer, photos will be taken by local photographer Ian Tuttle, music will be played by Salon97 and art will be displayed by Cameron Forsley. The organizers recommend attendees dress in white and/or pink for the occasion and part of the show will step outside of the conservatory, so you may want bring along a light jacket.

Cover is a $5 donation, although we understand that no one will be turned away for having too little. If you can't make it tonight, Quiet Lightning will hold a similar event for the release of the September and October issues of sparkle + blink, and the issue will be available online for free after the event.
