Yesterday, San Francisco Design Week kicked things off in drunken style at Jasper's. And today we bring you a brief list of choice events to hit up during this week's festivities. What is San Francisco Design Week, you ask? Well, in association with AIGA (the professional association for design), it's a way to reach out to the "20,000 Bay Area design professionals as well as local businesses, non-profits, entrepreneurs, students, the design-savvy public" and others to highlight "the diversity and professionalism of the design community around the bay." The end goal is to "raise public awareness of the impact that all design-graphic, product, interior, fashion, architecture, advertising, et cetera-has in the San Francisco Bay Area." OK? OK.

And with that, here (among a vast array of interesting-sounding things to do) is a list of noteworthy events for this week. They are:


TUESDAY, JUNE 12

--> Next Wave: Creating Services for the Invisible Interface

What it is all about: "Smart system design and service design go hand-in-hand as we move forward to the next generation of non-screen based interfaces. What it is all about: "Leading modern furniture showroom Zinc Details presents "SF Local Design Market," a combined exhibition and design mart that will run from June 11 through June 17 with an opening on June 12 from 6 to 8 pm. In partnership with SF Design Week, 'SF Local Design Market' is a cross between a conventional exhibition and design pop-up shop where Bay Area designers, artists and makers will be showcasing their products, which will also be for sale. The exhibition is sponsored by RDI, the Retail Design Institute, San Francisco chapter."


WEDNESDAY, JUNE 13

THURSDAY, JUNE 14

--> Shutterstock's Pixels of Fury: A Live Creative Inspiration Tournament

What it is all about: "With Shutterstock as AIGA's Official Sponsor for Creative Inspiration, this live design competition event takes creative inspiration to a new level. Designers battle it out across three rounds in front of an audience cheering and jeering their every move. Local superstar judges determine a winner on breakneck speed and masterful stock skills used to answer one question alone: What will you inspire us to do?

Emcee, DJ and Beer and Wine. (please note, food will not be served at this event so bring a snack or eat before the battle begins!)
