A mugging victim is in serious condition after a failed robbery attempt at the corner of Ellis and Jones early this morning. The victim had been standing in front of a business at the intersection (known for hosting at least one drug dealing hotspot) when the mugger approached and made his move, the victim was stabbed in the throat, Bay City News reports. After staggering back to the business, the victim collapsed in the doorway.

SFPD have yet to identify the victim or the suspect in the failed mugging that went down before 1 a.m. this morning. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for his injuries, which were considered serious.
