At least two women, and possibly a third, were shot in front of a taqueria during an apparent drive-by shooting in the Tenderloin aroudn 1 p.m. this afternoon. According to a witness, a white or gray van sped up Leavenworth towards Ellis when he heard gunshots and saw the van speeding away. The two victims we both shot in the lower parts of their bodies and were taken to S.F. General to be treated for their injuries which were not considered life threatening.

The shooting happened outside of Comida Yucateca Doña Marta at Ellis and Leavenworth, about half a block down from the Tenderloin Children's playground. The witness told Bay City News that whoever was in the van "seemed like they were on a mission." Streets in the neighborhood were shut down for about an hour while SFPD cleaned up a pool of blood on the sidewalk.

One SFPD Lieutenant also told the Chronicle that the shooter may have been targeting an ex-girlfriend. Employees at the taqueria confirmed that they handed over surveillance footage to police officers and another neighbor mentioned that the corner is known for drug dealing.
