Get out that sunscreen — or a parka — the Sunday Streets 2012 line-up was announced yesterday, with the big kick-off happening on March 11th along the Embarcadero. The family/bike/pedestrian-friendly event runs every month through October, and will hit the Mission on four Sundays this year, along with the addition of a date in the Outer Mission/Excelsior area.
Sunday Streets will also be returning to Chinatown, where it might be expanded this year, along with Bayview and the Western Addition, and the Great Highway/Golden Gate Park Sunday features a new route through the park. We were bummed to see that the Tenderloin/Civic Center neighborhoods were left off the list this year though.
Here's the schedule, which is subject to change:
- March 11: Embarcadero- Season kick off
- April 15: Great Highway/Golden Gate park- new route through the park
- May 6: Mission
- June 3: Mission
- July 1: Mission
- July 22: Bayview
- August 5: Mission
- August TBA: Chinatown
- September 9: Western Addition/N. Panhandle Alamo Square
- October 21: Outer Mission/Excelsior
Sunday Streets has come a long way since it's inception in 2008, which started off with just two annual events. Here's hoping it'll eventually become a weekly thing.
