If you're headed out to watch commercials and drink watery, domestic beer this Sunday, be sure to designate your sober wheelman ahead of time. The SFPD has announced they'll be running a special Superbowl Sunday DUI checkpoint at Lombard Street and Divisadero in the Marina following the football festivities. Those of you hoping to swerve your way back over the Golden Gate Bridge Sunday evening, should not only be admonished for even allowing that idea to cross your brain, but you should also consider taking a ferry home.

The checkpoint runs from 8:30 p.m. Sunday evening until 3 a.m. Monday, February 6th, and SFPD Sgt. Neil Swendsen even provided some handy tips for keeping your DD in the best of moods during the big game: "Make sure all of your guests designate their sober drivers before kick-off or help arrange ride-sharing with other sober drivers. Treat the designated drivers well; give them the best seats to watch the game and the first passes at the buffet table; make sure their cars aren't blocked in when it's time to leave."
