As is our monthly tradition around here, we now present our favorite utterances from the February issue of San Francisco's "most exclusive news magazine". Provided (mostly) without commentary and in no particular order. This month's themes: Romance, Love, and the 17th Annual "Eligibles" list. Observe:

  • "We define 'eligible' as a person who is open to exploring new relationships." - Lois Lehrman, describing the Most Eligibles list in her Letter From the Publisher.

  • "Aside from living at the gym, there are certain things one can do to guarantee a steady stream of dates on Friday nights: live in a fabulous apartment (preferably one with a view), boast nearby public transportation (so your date doesn’t have to find a parking space), know the top chefs of all the hot new restaurants, and—own a dog (upping your approachability factor)." - Kellie Ell's introduction to the aforementioned 17th Annual Eligibles List.

  • "Added to the mix of marvelous coverage in this issue, be sure to see yourselves at play at the ballet gala and all the current big events captured in pictures" - Lois Lehrman again, in her Letter From the Publisher.

  • "A couple of weeks ago, after successful experimentation on mice, researchers at Cambridge University claimed that it is possible to reverse the aging process, potentially enabling human beings to live forever, or at least for centuries." - Sandra J. Swanson's investigation "Ageless in San Francisco: The Latest Non-Invasive Procedures"

  • "The owner is one of the designers from Apple, and he has a tremendous design sense. They’re opening a restaurant in the back." - Steven Alan owner and CEO Steven Alan on why he, Steven Alan, chose to place his latest storefront in Hayes Valley, quoted in Pamela Troy's Hayes Valley Neighborhood Retail Report.

  • "Together with event designer Stanlee Gatti, Laurie [Arons] produced one wedding reception that she describes as “almost Shakespearian in abundance.” The highlight was one long table set on a lawn and strewn with pillows, oversized goblets teeming with grapes—and young dancing girls whimsically dressed as flower fairies, with wings and tutus." - Val Reilly describing Vanessa and Bill Getty's wedding reception in her Icons of Style report on local wedding planners.

  • "Along with meals designed by celebrity chefs, the trend is toward color schemes inspired by well-known fashion labels. Upcoming weddings will be bright with Jonathan Adler hues and Hermés orange with white." - Val Reilly again, describing this year's wedding fashions in her Icons of Style report.

  • "Love is in the air. Why not rendezvous at a fabulous hotel? We’re not talking Motel 6." - Lina Broyodo's "Love Shacks: Romantic Hotels" report.

  • "But before you blast off into fluffy tulle clouds of connubial contemplation, you owe yourself a wedding dress reality check." - Jennifer Raiser bringing you tips on how to find that perfect wedding dress in her Style File: Wedding Gown Clues report.
