SFPD have identified the man wanted for assaulting a young tourist in the bushes near Fisherman's Wharf as 18-year-old Christopher Dutel from Southern California. According to an SFPD spokesman, the girl "voluntarily separated" from her group earlier in the evening but she was not reported missing until 2:30 in the morning.

Police fond the girl with the suspect in the bushes near the Longshoremen's Memorial Association building at 400 North Point Street nearly two hours later at 3:45 a.m. According to the Examiner, two transients saw the girl with the suspect at a nearby 7-Eleven store. SFPD are still checking out the surveillance video, but the 15-year-old victim has alleged she was also sexually assaulted in the incident. The Examiner's sources claimed the suspect was homeless, but SFPD have identified Dutel as a Southern California resident.
