For all of the machismo and swagger, we cannot stay mad at Anthony Bourdain. Who can, really? (Oh, Tony B., your love for San Francisco -- like your sinewy frame, olive-hued skin, and alto-kissed voice -- is infectious!) This summer, Bourdain was in San Francisco to film his new show, The Layover. And he finally got what Baghdad by the Bay is all about, and then some.

Via an interview in the New York Times:

Q. Favorite city for eating in the United States?

A. Anyone who doesn’t have a great time in San Francisco is pretty much dead to me. You go there as a snarky New Yorker thinking it's politically correct, it’s crunchy granola, it’s vegetarian, and it surprises you every time. It's a two-fisted drinking town, a carnivorous meat-eating town, it’s dirty and nasty and wonderful…

Meat-eating? Dirty? Nasty? Wonderful? Two-fisted? Sounds like he spent a chunk of time in the infamous backroom at the Powerblouse, no?

Anyway, Bourdain goes on to say that the best place in SF to eat a piece of meat is, inarguably, House of Prime Rib.
