A 31-year-old man ran "for dear life" from a "gun-toting thug" yesterday morning around 9 a.m. last night around 9:15 p.m., as the Ex and Mission Local report, only to be shot multiple times in the back near 26th and Harrison Streets.

The suspect, who was firing a semiautomatic handgun, fled in a waiting car near Garfield Square, and remains at large. Some witnesses say there were as many as ten shots.

The victim, a bald Hispanic male, remains in critical but stable condition at S.F. General. A motive for the shooting is not yet known.
