Twitter co-founder Biz Stone accidentally (?) spammed his entire prestigious lot of followers with the following plea: “Will you endorse @EdLeeforMayor for Mayor on @Votizen https://www.votizen.com/m/93t6at/."

Oops.

Regarding the snafu, TechCrunch's Alexia Tsotsis swaggered: "While Twitter representative Sean Garrett tweeted that Biz “press[ing] the wrong button” was responsible for the spam, I haven’t been able to replicate the effect on Votizen, which appears to be super buggy this morning. Wherever that darned button is, I can’t find it."

Tech geek humor followed Stone's mistake. However, GigaOM founder Om Malik wasn't having any of it, tweeting, "@biz I am not sure why any techie should endorse a mayor that let pier 38 die on his watch. Sf politics sucks to be honest @edleeformayor."

Update: Biz Stone doesn't even live in San Francisco. He lives in Marin. From Marin Magazine, he notes:

"When we first moved out here in the early 2000s, we found a place in (S.F.’s) Potrero Hill. We tried living in Palo Alto for a while when I worked for Google but after I left, it didn’t make a ton of sense for us. Next we tried living in Berkeley, which we liked, but my wife Livia works in Marin, with WildCare. Finally, we tried living in Marin, loved it, and just bought a house in Corte Madera."

Why be so into the mayoral race of a city you don't even live in? Could it be that it has something to do with the tax exemption Twitter had handed to them by both former mayor Gavin Newsom and Lee? Yes. Yes it does.
