Video: 'The Dark Side Of Oz' Now Online

Dude. Duuuude. Time to sit back, spark up, and tune in to the famous synching of Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon (1973) and The Wizard of Oz (1939), which boasts a bizarre pairing of a stoner band's seminal work and the twentieth century's first true punk-rock artist, Judy Garland. Laughing Squid brings our attention to the pairing brought to you by Brooklyn audio engineer Bryan Pugh.

This infamous syncing has been around for years and is also known as The Wizard of Floyd and The Dark Side of the Rainbow. Pink Floyd denies connection between the works but take a look, the synchronicities are sometimes eerie. It has also been performed as a live stage version by many theater groups such as Next Door Theater in Massachusetts and Fearnoart Entertainment in California.

Who created the Judy DSOTM picture? It's great and I want a poster.

But... DSOTM is only 44 minutes long; the film is 1 hr 42 min. This version plays the album twice even though the coincidences are only evident in the first half.

This is true. It's best to just stop watching the movie when DSOTM is over. If you want coincidences in the second half, you'd have better dropped a couple hits of something when you flipped the record during the first half.

Fun Fact: when one flips from side a to side b, it's precisely the moment when the film goes from b&w to technicolor.
