Zeitgeist Finally Removes Vile Backyard Porta-potties

Adapting to the new Valencia Street, budding gastro pup Zeitgeist finally yanked their backyard porta-potties in exchange for comfier thrones recently. The new "wood, concrete, and sheet metal bathrooms" will now play host to a bevy of cyclists and Mission ilk looking to evacuate their waste in between sips of brew. This a refreshing change from the pastic fart catchers that used to pockmark the the popular beer garden.

For some, however, this could signify a change in the venue's culture. As Uptown Almanac notes, "The motorcycle, messenger, and gearhead clientele has been pushed away and the bar's 'surly' bartenders and bouncers is seen more as a cute, if not kitschy feature than a legitimate force of disgust."

I'm a scruffy alterna-gay. So, while I'm not a Marina invader, I'm not a core Zeitgeist denizen. A few weekends ago my friend and I had lunch at Tartine (yes, I know) and then walked to Zeitgeist to share some bloodies and a pitcher. And I have to say, the stainless steel wonderlands, AKA bathrooms, were amazing. The beer taps were clean, everybody was relaxed. We made friends with elderly east coast lesbians. It was nice. End of the world? Yuppie invasion? Whatever. Tamale Lady still comes.

The new management has instructed the staff to be nice, apparently they took the yelp reviews a tad more serious than they should have. It kinda sucks, I paid my dues with the surly staff and feel like if the yelp crowd ventures out the Marina they should understand they'll be treated differently than on Union St. One staffer lamented to me recently it's going to be T.G.I. McZeitgeists from now on. Bleh

finally, i can invite my parents to use the facilities at zeitgeist and not be embarrassed by the plastic fart catchers pockmarking the gorgeous beer garden. especially when they have blow.
