Last night after the evening commute, an inbound 31 bus hit a pedestrian standing on the shelter median at Market and New Montgomery Streets. According to the Examiner, the injured pedestrian was leaning off the platform with their back turned when they were struck, leaving a pool of blood on the brick and stopping bus and F-line traffic on Market for over two hours.

Since the 31 normally runs on the outside lane and doesn't stop on the Muni island, officials are looking in to whether the bus hopped the median. The Examiner also points out one of the guardrails on the platform was bent, although Muni spokesman Paul Rose wasn't sure if that was a result of yesterday's errant 31 or a separate incident. The injured victim is in stable condition.
