Harold Camping, the Alameda preacher who falsely claimed that the rapture would come on May 21, has been put in a nursing home. The 79 89-year-old soothsayer could face the remainder of his life (presumably) inside an assisted-living facility.

"Camping's daughter confirmed that Camping moved from an area hospital to a skilled nursing home where he is undergoing therapy and rehabilitation to build is strength," reports SF Weekly.

Camping, if you recall, suffered a stroke on June 9.

As far as the failed rapture goes, Camping rescheduled the apocalypse start date to October 21, 2011.

Harold Camping sounds like he plagiarized Jehovah's Witnesses.
Jehovah Witnesses are a spin-off of the second Adventist which all came from the Millerite movement.American war of 1812 army captain William Miller is ground zero for Jehovah's Witnesses. Yes,the "great disappointment" of Oct 22 1844 has never died out... it lives on in the Jehovah's Witnesses.
The central CORE doctrine of the Watchtower, yes the reason the Watchtower came into existence was to declare Jesus second coming in 1914
.When the prophecy (derived from William Miller of 1844) failed they said that he came "invisibly".Watchtower reckless predictions of the (1914) (1975).....  second coming of Christ hardens skeptics in their unbelief and provides new fodder for cynics to mock the Christian faith.

Let's look at the statistics for a moment. Jim Jones - crackpot. David Koresh - crackpot. Marshall Applewhite (Heaven's Gate cult) - crackpot. Television evangelists that constantly beg for money - crackpots. Harold Camping - crackpot. What do all these people have in common? Well, aside from the obvious, they all believe(d) in apocalyptic prophecy. Another thing they all have/had in common? They have/had countless gullible people hanging on to their every word, and emptying out their bank accounts for these losers. Perhaps one day mankind will evolve to be smarter than to believe all of this crap.........one can only hope. As far as Harold Camping is concerned, all I can say is that Karma is a bit*h.......and considering what all has happened to him lately, I'd have to add that Karma also has PMS - BAD combo!

  • Another false PROFIT and there are many more on Sunday morning TV...

  • As opposed to what, a true prophet?  Come on.

  • I think its safe to assume God stepped in. Family Radio will be hard pressed to regain the trust of its listeners. Watching the re-runs I find it hard to believe FR is not complicit. It was 2 weeks ago in response to a suggestion he retire Camping said " If God wants to remove me He will."  Pathetic.

  • So God doesn't care about wars, holocaust, famine... but He cares a lot about some crazy old man on the radio.

Yeah, that's definitely a deity you should be worshiping.

  • Ryan kordys

If God would stop wars, eliminate the holocaust, cease famine, then where is our freedom of decision?

God cannot force love, nor can he make people do things against their will; you have to love Him and trust in Him.

Afterall, isn't that how faith (in anything) works?

So how is Heaven supposed to be any better than the mess on this planet?  Do you lose your free will in Heaven?  If "God" can't do it here, how can you expect him to do it There?

  • Isn't he going to separate the good from the evil and bring good people to heaven and evil people to hell? So why would you ask such a ridiculous question? As written in the bible, getting to heaven is like going through a needle hole... But some people like the fast and easy way... so that's where it gets tough...

  • Who is he?  Isn't time for the blinders to come off and the FACTS be looked at?  There is no GOD, science proves it.  There's no magic man in the sky who can answer prayers and right all the wrongs.  Religions were made up by stupid uneducated people, used to control behavior. 95% of the world's problems are because of people's belief in religion. What kind of god would allow babies to be born with life long disabilities or mental retardation? What did these sinner babies do to deserve that?  And where the hell is he? When is this magic man making an appearence?  How about NEVER.  I am puzzeld by how many modern humans still believe in this fairey tale.  I can understand those ass backward, 3rd world idiots believeing, just look at them, they're a few years above cave men.

  • Uh, science has proved no such thing. Science cannot logically prove OR disprove the existence of an omnipotent god. Science deals with the natural world.

If you can't manage basic spelling ("fairey"), don't even know what a "fact" is defined as and can't manage basic logic, you're obviously not as smart or educated as you claim atheists are.And really, what SCIENTIFIC PROOF do you have that 95% of humanity's problems are from religion? Because they're not. They're from humans themselves. We are nasty, bestial animals who like to pretend that we're smarter than we are,

And I love how you throw a racist rant into the end of your post. Classy.

  • They say in Heaven, love comes first/we'll make Heaven a place on Earth...

  • Ooh, baby, do you know what that's worth ?
Ooh heaven is a place on earth

They say in heaven love comes first
We'll make heaven a place on earth

Ooh heaven is a place on earth

  • So God is completely powerless and pointless? Sounds like you disagree with Charlie Rizzo more than you disagree with me.

  • the guy is batshit insane.

  • Maybe he should have been put in a home after the first time he started babbling nonsense about the rapture back in the 90's?  Just sayin',

  • Sniffy

will he make it to the new rapture date?  the race is on!

  • Camping is actually 89, not 79.  Not that ten years makes any difference at this point in life.
