The former 49ers Quarterback was injured in an ATV accident on his ranch outside of Calistoga, CA this weekend. According to SJ Mercury News, number 16 was not seriously injured, but the stitches he received above his eye caused him to sit out a scheduled appearance before the Santa Clara City Council. Montana and his business partners intended to discuss their plans for complex of hotels, bars and restaurants adjacent to the proposed 49ers stadium in Santa Clara.

Although the Chronicle's Matier & Ross reported that the QB's absence meant development plans with Montana's business partner and former Niners owner Eddie DeBartolo had fallen through, Montana's attorney filed to delay the hearings until he could make an in-person appearance. Santa Clara Mayor Jamie Matthews reassured South Bay Niners fans that Montana was, "very upset" because he wanted to show his vision and commitment to the project.

While we're not big supporters of shipping the team off to the South Bay, we wish Joe a speedy recovery. We can hardly wait to scarf down chicken parts at Montana Joe's Wings-N-Things, or whatever he ends up naming the joint.
