Two big-city mayors are pow-wowing today in S.F. to "learn a lot from each other" -- which we think is a bit of an overstatement by mayoral spokesperson Christine Falvey given that, well, Ed Lee has been interim mayor for about five minutes and Bloomberg's been mayor of New York for a decade. Also, Bloomie is the 10th richest person in the U.S., and Lee is, well, a career bureaucrat, so let's not try to make this out like a meeting of equals.

As City Insider points out, Gavin was always a fan of pointing out areas where San Francisco surpassed New York, like with our (albeit tiny) fleet of hybrid taxis, and trying to rub these things in Bloomberg's face.

Bloomberg is arriving, probably as we speak, on a private jet into SFO, and will take BART into town — he's a big fan of the public transport in NYC too, but it's a good thing he won't need to rely on Muni. The two mayors are set to discuss law enforcement, and San Francisco's recently signed green-building legislation that requires energy audits for existing non-residential buildings. Then Bloomberg is giving the keynote address tonight at the Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research's 2011 economic summit.
