Ivan and Elizabeth, two long-distance lovers living in Amsterdam and San Francisco, respectively, came up with a public way of showing their love for each other. "San Francisco\Amsterdam," billed as "a collaborative poster project between lovers separated by circumstance," is like one of those broken heart necklace pairs but done with two posters.

"we not only wanted to create something that allowed us to express our affection for one another, but also sought to inspire and put forth a sense of hope and optimism into the world," Ivan and Elizabeth explain to SFist. "A long distance relationship can also be looked at as a metaphor for life's burdens and challenges. By creating this public message, we're hoping to show that anything is possible .... Having completed this project for Valentine's Day, we're showing a creative alternative to the consumerist mentality."
