Pedal-pushers on the Wiggle will be familiar with the harrowing intersection at Fell and Scott Streets - where relatively tame neighborhood traffic takes a left turn to meet the one-way torrent that rushing down the hill on Fell Street. (Not to make it sound dangerous or anything.)

Although the bike lane recently got some safety upgrade, the real danger occurs when cyclists feel it's safe to hang a left-on-red into the left-side bike lane on Fell Street. (Full disclosure: we're also guilty!) Meanwhile, vehicular traffic coming down Fell is (of course) still free to also turn left on Scott, which means someone will eventually get creamed. Enter the radical solution from the folks at FixFell.org: Filter Permeability, a solution that "works in Berkeley."

In a somewhat-rambling YouTube video [embedded below] FixFell spokesman and Arco Gas Station Protestor, Josh Hart describes the idea, along with the dangers of Fell Street, the problems that come with trying to "facilitate people's access to cheap oil" (you had to go there?) and something about women pedestrians being very likely to get hit by trucks in London (note: what?).
