Every year, the Rent Board announces how much landlords are allowed to increase the rent on rent-controlled apartments (aka: the good ones). For some, the anticipation before the annual rent increase announcement is akin to waiting on Oscar nominations. A couple months later you'll come to realize that it didn't really mean much, practically speaking. Anyhow, this year's rate: 0.5% - which pals over on the Appeal work out to 5 bucks a month per $1000 of rent. $60 a year ain't so bad right? You were going to cancel the cable this year anyway.
