Grease up your chains and lace up your rollerblades: everyone's favorite street-closing event is back with 8 dates this year. Including two in the incredibly bike-friendly Mission district and two more along the famously bleak Great Highway. Your 2011 Sunday Streets schedule, courtesy of the Examiner and SundayStreetsSF.com:

  • March 20: Embarcadero Kick-off from Fisherman’s Wharf to Mission Bay
  • April 10: Great Highway to Golden Gate Park
  • May 8: The Mission, along 24th and Valencia
  • June 12: Bayview/Dogpatch from 3rd St to the Bayview opera house
  • July 10: Great Highway route #2
  • August 14: Civic Center/Tenderloin route
  • September 11: Western Addition, Panhandle, Alamo Square and Japantown
  • October TBD: Mission route #2

Like last year, activities such as free bike rentals and the California Rollersports Association will be on hand to get you moving if you don't own a human-powered form of transportation, and as the Examiner points out "wealthy financer Warren Hellman" might pay for some live music as well.
