Speaking of Mission Mission, they bring our attention to "SF native and hip hop artist" Dregs One's new series called The Wake Up Report. His first episode concerns the incurable force known as gentrification.

In it, he describes gentrification as something that happens when "wealthy people move into a low income area," usually prompted by youthful artists and hipsters who fetishize said low-income grit. That is to say, if you've ever taken a photo of graffiti and posted it online, purchased and digested a spicy burrito along 24th Street, or beamed over food served from a fucking truck, congratulations. You are in part responsible for gentrification. (And if you have, we thank you. Really, if it weren't for gentrification, we would starve to death. We kid! But not really.)

Anyway, the video gets interesting when where Dregs chats with Dolores Park revelers about what the Mission means to them, and it's awkwardly brilliant. Some parts, though, are honest yet cringe-worthy. Take, for example, when Dregs ' buddy Orange Countyishly complains about natives being forced out by foreigners' freedom to move wherever they want. Shudder.

An interesting viewing. Check it out.
