Marina club the Gravity Room was the scene of a murder last night, just before midnight, as the neighborhood partied on in World Series glory. Alleged gang member Jelvon Helton, 22, was shot multiple times in the torso while inside the club by an assailant described as an African-American man in his early 20s. Helton was rushed to SF General but did not survive.

Helton wore gold teeth that said KO, which stood for the Knock Out Posse -- the Western Addition gang he was said to be a part of back when Dennis Herrera compiled his list of gang members in 2007. Helton was convicted in 2006 for being an accessory to a felony for threatening a security guard at Pierce and Eddy Streets.

The Gravity Room was pretty packed last night, and police are interviewing witnesses and reviewing surveillance footage in order to find Helton's killer, but the assailant remains at large. Anyone who was there or who might have any info is asked to call the anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444 or (415) TIPS-411.
