Pft. Bah. Gah. What the hell was that?

For starters, the alarm during today's Great Shakeout drill was weak; far too gentle on the eardrum. Also, we couldn't understand a single thing being announced either. They need to turn up the volume. LIKE THIS. All we heard was a muffled siren sound (from Third and Bryant, mind you) followed by concerned mumbling.

Granted, the siren will presumably last longer during a real emergency, but it was still too sweet.

In a real quake, how are we supposed to hear what's up while buildings crumble to the ground, babies cry for their fallen mothers, and citizens scream hysterically to a merciless God for help? How in heaven's name are we supposed to know what to do while buried underneath a mound of Victorian apartment rubble? Will we need to collect our sweat and urine for fluid replenishment in order to survive, or is help on the way?

We do, however, commend the some 350,000 people taking part in a very necessary drill.

Did you hear today's siren? What did you think?
