Well, ladies and gentlemen, Supervisor Chris Daly's deal to take over Buck Tavern on Market Street has fallen through, and there go his plans (at least in the near term) to become a bar owner.

As the Appeal reports, "Two reasons conspired to fell the soon-to-be-termed-out ethnic Irish politician's clichéd purchase of a bar and grill: one, his would-be landlord balked at the idea of financially assisting in an extensive remodel. Two, the landlord also balked at promising Daly friendly terms on an extended lease, wanting instead to 'work it out later.'"

So rather than risk it at that location, Daly's going to hunt around for a better spot at which to regale liberal loyalists, over shots of Jameson, with tales of battling on the frontlines with Newsom. And power to him, we say... that bar is on kind of a sad stretch of Market anyhow. Oh, but is that District 6? Our bad.
