Another Blue whale washed up on shore south of Half Moon Bay on Bean Hollow State Beach this morning, which makes three this season by our count. While it's always heartbreaking to hear one of these majestic (and endangered!) creatures didn't make it to winter vacation in Baja, this one is especially saddening because the 80-foot whale was pregnant with calf at the time of death. Researchers from the Cal Academy of Sciences will be taking blubber samples and checking for injuries to determine the cause of death, but unlike last week's whale burial at Ocean Beach the body will otherwise be allowed to wash out to sea.

CBS 5 has the gritty aerial footage, if you're in to that sort of thing. And seriously, when do we start worrying about all these dead whales?
