Hand-held Pies from Bike Basket Pies

In this war called life, you must pledge allegiance to either cake or pie. Actually, that's not true, we love both, but can you imagine if it were? Star-crossed lovers, gang fights, and straight-up race wars because of dessert preference? Disney should option this idea and pay us millions so that we can spend it all on Bike Basket Pies* as they are, by far, our most favorite vegan pie. Awkward transitions FTW! Bike Basket Pies is a one (super)woman enterprise and this lady knows from pie. Perhaps she was a pie in another life? All we know is that her pie could inspire love poems (if only we weren't so fat from eating them that we could lift a pen!). Our most favorite of all the marvelous pies has to be anything made with Daiya vegan cheese. Daiya is the first vegan cheese on the market that melts and stretches just like dairy cheese. That's the vegan holy grail, y'all. Bike Basket Pies are only available for online order and delivery or at one of the many events she sells at or generously donates to, including this weekend's SF Vegan Bakesale. We'll be there so everyone should stop by and get fat with us!

Vegetable Sabzi at Lahore Karahi

What to say. The restaurant itself isn't much to look at and it’s located where dreams go to die but this place is off the motherflipping CHAIN. The Vegetable Sabzi is filled with fresh veggies and the most amazing sauce ever, we can't describe it. Somewhere between heaven and whatever's better than heaven (our bed?), is where this sauce is made. It's truly transcendent. The rice is something magical and the roti (with sesame seeds! delightful touch!) is INSANE; that bread will physically get up and knock you over being all, “Bitch, I am delicious!” It's our favorite Pakistani restaurant in the city and it will be yours too. Oh, just one word to the wise, plan on being able to spend all evening dining because they ain't in a hurry. It shouldn't be a big deal because who are you? The president?

Vegan Special of the Day at The Front Porch

The Front Porch has got to be the cutest restaurant we've ever been in. It’s like a puppy wrapped in a kitten and then sauteed in baby koala oil and served on a blanket of rainbows to a family of Care Bears. It's ridiculously adorable, and just a little bit sexy which makes it a good choice if you're planning to get lucky (or a bad choice if you don't want to be mistaken for your dad's date EW BARF). The Vegan Special of the Day is usually a savory stew of some sort and is almost always absolutely delightful. It's fantastic that they acknowledge vegans and go out of their way to make something special for us. If the special doesn't sound all that special to you, you can always make a meal off of their ridiculously tasty french fries and excellent cocktails. Although they don't serve hard liquor (boo! liquor rules!), any drink menu that rests heavily on its use of Lillet is all right by us.

*and hookers! Don't forget the hookers! We joke, more realistically we'd spend it on 1/8th a house in the historic Liberty Hill district and a trip to Whole Foods.
