Raise your Perriers and Dasanis in a toast to the city's purported water bottle ban slipping down the drain to certain death. According to The Chronicle, last night's Environment Commission policy subcommittee meeting was a bust for the ban.

SF Appeal notes that the proposal was "nothing more than an assignment from Environment Commissioner Ruth Gravanis to Julie Bryant, the City's zero-waste coordinator to explore the possible logistics of such a ban, to be presented at Monday night's Environment Commission's policy committee."

Also, before the anti-SF ilk chimes in with hand-wringing and tea party told-you-so-ing, Concord, Mass. plans on a bottled water ban as well. So: take that.

In other news, San Francisco has a zero-waste coordinator. Oh, that is rich.
