At yesterday's Heart of the City Farmers Market, we

  • scored some bread from the delicious Edith's Bakery and tried a delicious coffee cake sample. We agree with fauxxtog and miumiu, Edith's is the best, and at $3 a loaf, it's way cheaper than the bread we buy from the corner store.
  • picked up some tasty Orange Pomegranate jam from Sherrill Orchards. It goes great with the bread from Edith's!
  • bought the usual -- Mandarin oranges, Fuji apples, and BBQ pistachios and Chedder Onion pistachios which taste a lot like Cheese-Itz. (Note, we also get a weekly veggie box delivered from Farm Fresh to You, so we tend to skip the vegetables at the farmers market. But we should have kept an eye out for the first asparagus of the season!
  • heard the Kettle Corn sold out by 2:30.
  • witnessed the wind overtake someone's tent on the Leavenworth end -- one of the legs was lifted several feet into the air, and several empty bins started blowing over near Hyde as well.

We hope to go again on Wednesday because we hear there's an awesome waffle truck there in the morning, and there's a really tasty tamale vendor at lunch.
