[Our Old Friend] Zennie Has No Love for SFist

zennie-thumb.jpg Those of you who have become loyal followers of Zennie Abraham's City Brights blog at SF Gate might have noticed that he called us out over the weekend. Zennie is upset about a perceived slight in re: his seeking press credentials for the Oscars. We corrected our previous post so as not to appear that we were misrepresenting the facts, but Zennie still sent us a number of emails, and continues to take issue with us calling him our "old pal."

To set the record straight, we want to be abundantly clear that our affection for Zennie's blog is not meant in a mocking tone -- we admire all those in the blog/vlog firmament who regularly put themselves out there for the world to listen to, read, and react to, be it good, bad and otherwise. And since Zennie feels discriminated against in this instance by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, it is wrong of us to make light of his complaints against them, especially if his claims regarding how much traffic he generates for SF Gate turn out to be true (a million hits a month? You go, Zennie).

As for referring to him as our "old friend" and "old pal," this is meant purely in a tone of blog-to-blog conviviality, given that our link-relationship goes back nearly a year now, when we mistook him for your average local trekkie taking issue with the buildings in the movie's futuristic version of San Francisco. We don't know who we'd turn to for such regular, cogent, local vlog stylings if not for Zennie, so we don't want make an enemy.

But since Zennie seems hurt that we've focused only on his less serious work, and ignored such pieces as his interview with craigslist's Craig Newmark, or the helpful talk he gave for Sarah Austin's local site Pop17 (more on her later... we're exhausted), we're going to do him a solid here and portray him as he wishes to be portayed, as YouTube and internet traffic-building consultant, Zennie Abraham (we believe neither he, nor we, can offer any excuses for the soundtrack):

There. Now go forth, all of you newshounds, and become successful YouTube vloggers.
