FarmVille, for those unaware, is one of those time-sucking Facebook apps that drive us, personally, insane. But hey, we all need a little distraction sometimes, and it turns out the theme song to FarmVille was penned by local musician, composer and music teacher, Steve Kirk, 52, of Oakland. Steve has been a lifelong musician, teaching at two schools in San Francisco and making a living in music through composing theme songs for animation and online apps. The creators of the game didn't want anything sounding too country, but instead wanted a laid-back, relaxing piece of music with just a touch of twang, and Kirk delivered. Now his little composition is heard by 26 million people -- the biggest audience he's ever reached. Above, he performs the theme live on stage at the Facebook/Zynga FarmVille party in October.
