Looking more like a family-friendly event than a gloriously lascivious Castro Street bash, the annual tree lighting ceremony took place last night. Supervisor Bevan Dufty was on hand to illuminate the 20-foot tree, which was drenched in ornaments and lights smack dab in front of the Bank of America on Castro and 18th streets.

For some, however, the Castro tree lighting ceremony, it seems, was an erotic one.

"This event brings the whole neighborhood together," Steven Adams, president of the Merchants of Upper Market & Castro (MUMC), told Golden Gate X-Press. "The lighting of the tree is my favorite part because it gets people off."

Huh. Anyway.

Here are some photos from last night's Castro holiday festival. Enjoy.
