Vault Fire at Battery & Pine

batteryandpine.jpg

Just a little before 6 a.m. this morning, SFFD got a report of smoke coming out of a manhole at Battery and Pine in downtown San Francisco. When they got there, they found (another!) vault fire. According to Appeal, "PG&E is saying that initial reports suggest that 'a cable failed' which 'produced a little smoke.' They expect the area to remain a work site (that is, a big PG&E truck and workers are in the line of traffic), but all streets have been reopened."

PG&E likes to reinvest in its infrastructure. Good thing they keep hiking the rates and stealing our public power.

I see smoking manholes in the FiDi all the time, what's the big whoop?

Yeah right 'noooothing to see here keep moving.' Bull. Look up the previous 'cable failure' in front of city hall. There was only 'a little bit of smoke' coming out of that one too, but the whole goddamn world was called up to find the problem. I am more worried seeing a handful of PG&E trucks that police of fire.
Check it out, back in July of this year.
