Billed as the best story of November thus far, SF Examiner brings you a true tale of jarring criminal mischief. Ahem:
At 8:02 a.m. Tuesday, a man called 911 to report that he had been cheated on prices at Wendy’s fast-food restaurant on Gateway Boulevard. He said the prices on the menu do not match what he paid, and that the employee then gave him an incorrect phone number to call to file a complaint with the corporate office.
In related news, the city of San Francisco, we should point out, still lacks a Wendy's. It seems the petition to bring Wendy's back to San Francisco lost steam. Alas.

i SO want a Wendy's in SF -- can we revitalize that initiative somehow? pleasse!!?!?
There was one on Market for a long time, but it's gone now.
I thought there was on Drumm, across from the Hyatt Regency?
I think there was one there, too. There were actually 2 on Market. One at 6th & Market on the southeast corner and another on the north side (I don't remember exactly where)
I heard Wendys was moving in to occupy the entire third floor of the Metreon...the perfect complement to Target.
Actually, Wendy's will only occupy half of the third floor; Popeye's will get the other half. Target did a study to find out what their shoppers crave. Wendy's and Popeye's - a few Cadillac Escalades away from living back home in the Central Valley!
BonQuiQui will be there to take your order:

"Dang, anything else?"
Uh-uh, Do not git loud wit me!
And for this we keep the Bay Bridge standing?
The operator of fast-food restaurants (Wendy's) pulled it's advertising from the Ellen show after it was revealed that the lead character, played by Ellen Degeneres, would be coming out as a lesbian.
I'm still boycotting Wendy's - Dead Dave Thomas can eat my chocolate frosty with extra special sprinkles.
I hit up the WENDYs all the time in MARIN .... better than MCDONALDS not as good as In-and-Out
I thought it was Carl's Jr. that pulled their advertising, thoiugh it's possible that I'm wrong or that they both did.
obvious nutball is obvious.
Why don't they charge these fuckers 100.00 for calling?
That's a really good idea. They have the cell number after all.
Of course it might get pocket dialers too .. for a while I had a phone that dialed 911 when you held down the 9 key for too long, but I quickly turned off that feature. ("Hello? Is there really a problem???")
Several interesting points come to mind as I read this.
- This person called 911 to complain about pricing for a burger at a fast food place.
- This person had money in the first place to purchase anything.
- This person was able to own a cell phone.
- This person was able to dial a cell phone.
- This person was able to read a menu/pricing and still remember the number for '911'
Most troubling is that this person DROVE A VEHICLE to the burger joint while not having the basic common sense to know the difference between a minor inconvenience and an emergency.
They drove.
Car, license, insurance, stop signs, red lights AND calling 911 about a pricing mistake about a burger???
Oh who is to assume they had any of those things....
It certainly does explain a whole bunch about driving in California.
imagine if you had to pass the high school exit exam to get your drivers license.
@RobInSF
Well played.
