Bay Bridge to Remain Closed Over the Weekend

closed-sign_bridge.jpg

Bad news. The Bay Bridge will remain closed over the weekend. According to CBS 5, "officials said the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge would likely stay closed through the weekend and were unsure if it would open in time for Monday's morning commute."

Fuck it, just leave it closed.

While I'd love to agree with you, the bridge closing is major hassle for bike commuters coming over from the East Bay. No bikes on BART and the ferry is fucking expensive.

can we bring critical mass onto the west span?

double bonus, BART is 24 hours t'night!

Oh yeah. I'm not actually a huge fan of CM (though I do bicycle a lot for transportation) but for the bridge? Oh yeah.

Where did you hear/read that BART is running 24 hours?

You rock! Thanks for sharing.

Normally I would not say anything in favor of such a thing. But:

FUCK YEAH!!!!

This is a golden opportunity. Do it.

Or maybe the guys fixing the bridge over Labor Day should have not effing rushed the job. Pay now or pay later, always.

It seems like a good time to straighten out the new "S" while they're at it.

Thank you Caltrans for additional extra quiet nights of sleep in my little studio under the Bay Bridge.

This raises an important question: why do people live in the East Bay?

you sir/mam are a pompous ass

nevertheless, the question stands.

I moved to Oakland a few months ago. My rent went from $650/month (for a room that I couldn't quite fit a full size bed into) to $350/month for a room that by itself is almost as big an average one bedroom apartment in SF. And it's all of a twenty minute BART ride to SF from the BART station that I live a whole five minutes away from. That's why.
