BART commuters line up to buy tickets during the early morning commute at the West Oakland station in Oakland, Calif. on Wednesday Oct 28, 2009. The Bay Bridge was closed Tuesday night when a Labor Day repair failed bringing a rod and heavy metal down on cars. Caltrans has not estimated how long the bridge will be closed. The Bay Bridge is, as most of you already know, still closed today. Yesterday's BART commute was either "just fine" or "insanely crowded," depending on the passenger. Eastern SOMA still remains joyfully (albeit eerily) quiet. No word of when, exactly, the Bay Bride will reopen, though some media outlets are suggesting it might be ready for traffic come nightfall.

Caltrans has tons of construction photos at its always useful website:

That's a great shot of the worker applying what looks like Super Glue to the cable.
That's probably what got them into trouble in the first place!
@Elly - I was thinking the same exact thing. In pic #6, that certainly looks like the guy is fixing the beam with a little tube of super glue. Can't be, right?? RIGHT?? Perhaps I'll stay away from the Bay Bridge for a few weeks.
cyanoacrylates can certainly be used as threadlock.
That picture where they are repairing the eyebar looks like they are doing it with super glue. LOL!
Duh. I should have read the other comments first. So much for originality.
