Insane week in live music with Montreal's Sunset Rubdown at Great American Music Hall tonight, local post-punk favorites French Miami at Bottom of the Hill Tuesday and Brooklyn's experimental indie heavyweights Dirty Projectors at Bimbo's Sunday.

While we won't blame you for checking out Japanese noise icons Melt Banana at Slim's or Built to Spill at the Fillmore, our Halloween weekend pick is No Age at the Great American Music Hall Friday (video above). Icons of Los Angeles' DIY institution The Smell, the guitar and drum duo blends spastic jams with distinctly California pop melodies, creating some of the most exciting punk-leaning music of the decade in the process. We have had the pleasure of catching these guys at a range of venues over the past few years and can honestly say they never disappoint.

Plenty of other options this week, including Notebook star turned Pitchfork darling Ryan Gosling's Dead Man's Bones on Tuesday and San Francisco's own The Dodos on Thursday -- be sure to check the complete showlist.
