IRL blogroll
Are you looking for authentico journo cred? Yes? Well, get your weblog over on the New York Times' new Bay Area blogroll section. (Yes, people still have blogrolls. We're not sure why, exactly.) The Gray Lady says they will promote "honest" work, if your online diary meets the following astute criteria. Ahem:
- "The blog should be about Bay Area, and based in The Bay Area, or about a topic of special interest to people in the area."
- "Much of the content should be original, reasonably well-written and well-designed."
- "It should be updated with some frequency, and has been updated recently."
- "The focus should be on what is happening around the area — your town, your park, your school, your bar or beyond."
- "Keep it relatively clean. We do not view links as an endorsement — caveat browser — but our readers come in a wide range of ages and sensibilities. We do not want to direct them without warning toward profanity-laden screeds."
Well, fuck it all if that isn't the goddamn most bitchin' thing we've seen all day! Thanks for including Bay Area voices, NYT.

The NYT doesn't roll with Mission Mission. Mega tears.
:-(
Or the Appeal! But I see Mission Local students are writing for it, so, hmmm.
Actually Mission Mission got some love.
Eve, they're probably just a little wary of such scathing media-nerd wit. (they've already got Gawker/Valleywag to deal with)
Still holding out to get AggressivePanhandler.com on there.
Fingers crossed we can get on the WSJ SF blogroll.
Was there a Bay Area NYT edition last Friday? Might someone have link? Can't find online...
Oh my.
I'm down with blogrolls, but if you're gonna do old school, do old school.
It used to be gauche to ask to be on someone's blogroll. Soliciting people to submit to *maybe* be listed if they live up to some arbitrary standard not only tacky, it goes against the whole spirit of blogrolls. They are lists picked by the author, to reflect what that author is reading or inspired by or what have you. This "maybe we'll link to you if are good enough"? Bah.
Hey, thanks to you guys, I got in! Accepted by the Gray Lady of American Journalism, the New York Times! Woo Hoo!

that's me.
When my first check arrives, I'm gonna take all y'all out for tacos, or vegan cupcakes or whatever.
Mucho appreciado, SFist, I see you made it too.
In your face, Sexpigeon.
