According to SFist Jonathan, "My train is stopped in Burlingame @ 6:20 pm -- the conductor says the train is being held here due to a bomb threat at Millbrae."
Word is the threat shutdown BART and CalTrain in the area, indefinitely.
We'll update as soon as we know more.
Update 7:41: Jonathan tells us, "[The threat] it's still on. All caltrains stopped 'indefinitely' and no BART service to Millbrae. About 15 cyclists abandoned the train in Burlingame after the conductor announced that the delay might be 3 hours ... [N]ow at the San Bruno BART station [where] BART is running."
Upate 8:30: Suspicious package "deemed harmless." Trains start running and BART station reopens.

Call me slightly paranoid, but the best way for terrorists to measure response times and take notes on procedure of first responders is to place dummy packages like this then stand back and watch.
In the past few months "dummy" packages have been found all around the country (Boston, Providence, NYC, SF and now Millbrae).
I'm beginning to think these are not coincidence.
you are slightly paranoid. not inconceivable, your scenario, but come on. how many instances of smart attempted terrorism have we seen since 9/11? exactly.
besides, terrorism doesn't exist.

I was on the same train. We waited 15-20 mins, thinking the threat would pass, but eventually got off to try something else. As we made it to the front of the train, I heard one conductors tell the other "[So-and-so] at Milbrae said a cop told him 'at least three hours'." At which point the other conductor said, "Let's shut 'er down." So we walked to California Drive, tried to catch a bus but nothing came. We finally got a cab several minutes later. All said, a two-and-a-half hour commute; this after Monday's rain made that commute two hours. Hooray beer!
I was one of the unfortunate commuters who got caught last night on a train, from Mountain View to SF, during the suspicious-package scare at the Millbrae station. Although I appreciate the extra caution and the courtesy of agents on the train and at the San Mateo station, I wonder if Caltrain officials are aware of the absurdity of the "bus bridge" scenario that unfolded. When passengers on my train were finally off-loaded at San Mateo and put on busses, do you know where we were taken: MILLBRAE. We sat outside the supposedly dangerous station for 15 minutes. When we said to the driver, "The reason we are on your bus is because this station is closed and has been evacuated," she said she had to stay there until Caltrain told her what to do. Who, I might ask, directed her and the other drivers to take busloads of people into the supposed "war zone"?
To make matters worse, the BART train many of us finally boarded at Burlingame encountered problems in Colma. After another delay, my train was unloaded onto one on the adjoining track, and passengers from our new train were sent to the old one. Musical trains. A perfect ending to a truly crazy evening.
More food for thought: Why would it take more than two hours to figure out that a shopping bag contained toilet paper? Couldn't Caltrain borrow a sniffer dog from nearby SFO? Why didn't they try the hose trick from the start? What does this episode tell us about response time? And who calls the shots in a situation like this? Were local police and fire officials consulted? What can we learn from this?
