UPDATED: Muni Subway Service Shuts Down

Due to extensive flooding, Muni temporarily shutdown subway service at 4:15 p.m.

MTA will flood (heh) the streets with buses for this evening's commute. "We're putting as many buses as we can on the surface to service the customers during the afternoon commute," MTS spokesman Judson True told KCBS. "Right now we've got quite a few folks working to get the system going again."

Anyone taking public transportation this evening will feel the brunt of this Muni shutdown.

Footage: Van Ness station waterfall. Amazing.

Update: Service has been restored, except at the Van Ness station.

Update 6:35 p.m.: Outbound service disrupted. "Water main broke in MUNI tunnel near Civic Center. I'm stuck on an N at Montgomery. And they won't open the doors. Super," @rebecca_f.
